Specialist Physiotherapy

With expert clinicians focussed on a long term approach to better movement and overall health, we’re here to provide quality physio care and treatment to people from all walks of life.
Peak MSK Physiotherapy is a leading Melbourne physio clinic specialising in back, neck and jaw pain. Recognised by the Australian Physiotherapy Association for Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, our team provides evidence-based treatment and services across a wide range of modalities.

The team at Peak MSK would like to welcome you to our bright and modern Cheltenham physio clinic. With up to date facilities and a range of high tech tools at our disposal, our experienced team of physiotherapists can help you to move, play and feel better.

Could the way you move hurt you?

Over time, we all develop unique movement patterns that aren’t always great for our bodies. It may sound counter-intuitive, but something as simple as the way you move could actually be detrimental to your health.

At Peak MSK Physiotherapy, our experienced team is here to help you re-learn how to move your body in a way that promotes good biomechanics. We don’t focus just on your specific injury: we look at your entire pattern of movement, helping you make lasting changes to the way you move. This includes hands-on treatment.

This doesn’t just help you overcome your current pain: it sets you up for the future to help prevent pain and injuries from recurring.

Caring for your musculoskeletal system can play a huge part in the quality and comfort of your movement. From your spine to your joints, muscles, nerves, tendons, ligaments and cartilage - all parts of your body have a part to play in helping you move comfortably.

Our team sees movement as medicine: healthy movement patterns and good posture can help to reduce chronic pain and whole body inflammation. Exercise and moving well has an endorphin effect too, boosting your mood whilst reducing the recurrence of injuries.

Physiotherapy to help you build confidence

We want to see our clients happy - so we work diligently to help you move and live with confidence!

Our Cheltenham physio clinic serves the Bayside area, with a team headed up by specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist Jayce Gilbert.

We take a holistic view of clinical care, partnering with their clients to give them the tools to succeed long after the initial treatment has ended.

For a physiotherapy treatment to be truly successful in the long term, we trust our clients to take ownership of their pain management using the tools and techniques we provide. By taking this partnership approach, we can work with you to make your treatment as successful as possible.

The Peak MSK team is here to help you build confidence in your movement, whether it be during sport, at work, or doing what you love.

Recognised by the Australian Physiotherapy Association for specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

Our specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist Jayce Gilbert is one of only a handful of such specialists in Victoria, having studied his craft for 7 years as opposed to the usual 4 years for general physiotherapists.

This means that clients of Peak MSK Physiotherapy have access to one of the state’s most experienced specialists with a deep knowledge of complex musculoskeletal conditions.

Jayce can offer more comprehensive and tailored treatments particularly for patients with difficult or reoccurring musculoskeletal problems.

With the support of the team, Peak MSK is dedicated to helping you live pain-free and build your confidence in everyday life.

Have a Question?

Frequently Asked Questions

What appointment types do you offer?

We offer standard, long and extended (Jayce only) appointment lengths. All first-time visitors need to book in for a long or extended appointment to ensure adequate time for an assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. Subsequent appointments are standard appointments.

  • Standard appointments 25 minutes
  • Long appointments 40 minutes
  • Extended appointments (Jayce Gilbert only) 55 minutes
Which appointment should I choose?

If your problem is complex, has been on-going for more than 3 months, or if you have seen another professional for the same problem before, we recommend an extended appointment. If this is not the case, then a long appointment (40 minutes) is recommended. If you are unsure, or would like to discuss our appointment types, contact us to speak to one of our friendly receptionists.

Do I need a physio referral?

You can refer yourself to us! A referral from your doctor is welcome, but not necessary. A referral is required however if you wish to make an appointment under TAC/Workcover, Medicare EPC, Veterans Affairs or other third-party providers.

Should I bring my scans to my appointment?

Please bring any scans, reports, letters, or other relevant materials with you to your appointment. However, don't worry if you haven't got your scans on you as our receptionists are able to obtain reports and images online.

Do you see TAC/Workcover/DVA patients?

We are more than happy to see TAC, Workcover and DVA patients. Please note that for the TAC or Workcover rebates to apply you must have a valid claim number from your insurer on the day. The cost of physiotherapy is only partially covered by TAC or Workcover. The entire fee for the consultation is payable by you on the day of your appointment. We then issue you a receipt to claim the rebate amount back from your third-party insurer.

There is no gap fee for DVA Gold Card holders.

Private health fund or Medicare EPC claims cannot be made in conjunction with a TAC or Workcover claim.

Do you offer second opinions?

Yes! Our specialist physiotherapist can assess your problem to provide you with an expert second opinion. You can find more specific information and book an appointment with our specialist here.

Should I bring my health fund? How much does it cover?

We can complete private health fund rebates for you on site. Please bring your card with you. To find out how much your fund will cover for an appointment, you will need to contact your health fund directly.

Can I get a Medicare rebate?

You can only claim through the Medicare Enhanced Primary Care program (EPC). EPC is a Medicare rebate system for people with chronic or complex ongoing conditions. A patient is able to claim up to five services per calendar year. An EPC plan must be prepared by your GP, who will then refer you to us. Please note Medicare will not cover the entire fee of the appointment. More information about Medicare EPCs here.

Is there wheelchair access?

Yes! Please speak to our friendly receptionists before your appointment and they will take care of the rest.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

We do have a cancellation policy. We request 24 hours' notice for cancellations so that we can offer the appointment to another patient. Patients who fail to attend appointments or provide 24 hours notice will be charged a late cancellation fee equal to the full cost of the appointment.

Can you provide services in languages other than English?

Yes, we do! Our Specialist Physiotherapist Jayce Gilbert is fluent in French. You can get more information here.

What should I wear to my physio appointment?

It is best to wear something comfortable to your appointment. Clothing that you can move in freely and comfortably is ideal.
